Editorial Policy
How we research, write, review and update every roofing guide on this site.
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Our goal is simple: publish roofing guides that are accurate, practical and safe to follow. This page explains the standards behind every article so you know how much to trust what you read.
Who writes our content
Guides are written by Ali, a Canada-based roofer with around five years of hands-on experience in servicing, repairs and installations. You can read more about him on our About page. Every article shows its author and publication date.
How topics are chosen
We write about the questions that come up on real jobs and from readers: the details that cause leaks, the materials people get confused about, and the decisions homeowners face before a repair or replacement.
Research and fact-checking
- We start from first-hand job experience and say clearly what has been seen in the field.
- Technical points are checked against manufacturer installation instructions and general building code requirements.
- Where practices differ by region, product or code edition, we say so and recommend checking local requirements.
- We avoid exaggerated claims, scare tactics and guaranteed results.
Writing standards
- The direct answer comes first, then the details.
- Plain language, with trade terms explained the first time they appear.
- Safety warnings wherever a task involves heights, tools or structural work.
- Original writing. We do not copy content from other websites.
Use of AI tools and images
We may use software tools to help with grammar, formatting or creating illustrative images. All technical content is written and reviewed by our author, and no article is published without a human check for accuracy. Some images on the Site are illustrations and may not show a specific real project.
Independence and advertising
The Site is funded by display advertising. Advertisers have no input into our content. We do not accept payment for reviews, rankings or mentions. Any sponsored content in the future will be clearly labelled.
Updates and corrections
We review guides regularly and update them when products, codes or best practices change. If you find an error, please tell us through our contact page. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly, and significant changes are noted in the article.
